Cost of living logo

Welcome to Portsmouth city council’s Cost of Living blog.

This is our very first blog post! We wanted to tell you a little about why we’ve started a blog and let you know what sort of topics we’ll cover and what we’ll be talking about.

We decided to start a blog as we wanted to provide useful information to our residents but in a more dynamic way than we could with our website.

Our Cost of Living hub is a one-stop source of information for Portsmouth residents but we wanted to add value to that and do something that was more engaging and in depth. We want to find out what you are thinking and how you the resident, and the communities you live in are coping during these challenging times.

We will be posting once a month to begin with and we will feature contributions from community members too.

What to expect

Our blog will feature photographs and videos and will provide useful information and interesting views.

We’re really excited to launch the blog so here’s what you can look forward to over the coming months.

  • How to save money on your food shop and feed a family on a tight budget – by the residents that are doing it week-in and week-out.
  • Food Pantries and Larders – are you embarrassed to get help?
  • Food focus – How residents are making delicious meals on a budget.
  • Communities that care – we’ll be finding out about the projects and schemes that are supporting our local communities – first up is a look around Portsea Pantry.
  • How financial stress is affecting people’s mental health and well-being.
  • How are working parents dealing with the cost of childcare?
  • And much more.
